FISHBALLS

In Filipino, “fishball” is typically referred to as “fishball” as well. It’s a popular street food made from ground fish meat formed into balls, usually deep-fried and served with a variety of sauces like sweet and sour or spicy vinegar.

KIKIAMS

Kikiam refers to a type of street food made from ground pork or beef mixed with vegetables, wrapped in bean curd sheets, and then deep-fried until crispy. It’s often served with a dipping sauce made from vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic. Kikiam is commonly enjoyed as a snack or appetizer in the Philippines.

KWEK KWEK

Kwek-kwek is another popular Filipino street food. It consists of boiled quail eggs that are coated in orange-colored batter made from flour and annatto powder (giving it its distinctive hue), then deep-fried until crispy.

SQUID BALL

“Squid ball” in Filipino is also referred to as “squid ball.” It’s a type of street food made from ground squid meat mixed with flour and seasonings, formed into small balls, and then deep-fried until golden brown. Squid balls are typically skewered on bamboo sticks and served with a dipping sauce, often a combination of vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and chili.

HOTDOG BITES

“Hotdog bites” in Filipino are often referred to simply as “hotdog bites.” They are a popular street food and party snack in the Philippines, enjoyed by both children and adults alike. These bite-sized snacks are often served with dipping sauces such as ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise-based sauces.

ARROZ CALDO

Arroz Caldo is a Filipino rice porridge dish that’s similar to congee. It’s made by cooking rice in broth with chicken, garlic, onions, and ginger until it becomes thick and creamy. It’s often seasoned with fish sauce or patis and garnished with toppings like hard-boiled eggs, fried garlic, green onions, and sometimes calamansi (Philippine lime).

SAGO AT GULAMAN

“Sago at Gulaman” is a popular Filipino beverage/dessert made from tapioca pearls (sago) and agar-agar jelly (gulaman), usually flavored with brown sugar or syrup and mixed with water and ice. It’s a refreshing and sweet drink that’s often served during hot weather or as a dessert after meals.
